With 2020 Budget, We Are On A Path To Prosperity – Oyo Lawmaker, Adeola Bamidele

The Oyo State lawmaker representing Iseyin/Itesiwaju State constituency, Hon. (Surv.) Adeola Bamidele has said that the proposed N208.8 billion 2020 budget will set the State on a path to economic prosperity.

The proposed budget which was presented to the lawmakers at the Oyo State House of Assembly for legislative review and scrutiny on Wednesday by the State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde has been receiving massive commendation as it votes largest percent to infrastructure and education, even beyond the UNESCO’s standard.

Adeola who was part of the lawmakers who spoke at the floor of the House after the budget presentation hailed the governor.

According to Adeola, for the Governor and his team to have allocated 23.93 percent and 22.37 percent of the budget to infrastructural development and education respectively, it shows that the dream is to restore economic prosperity and growth back to the State.

Applauding the provision for the establishment of zonal Oyo State Road Maintenance Agency across the five zones in the state, Adeola said it will make agencies achieve more by spreading it activities and get close to the people, hereby listening to the cries and guiding against vandalism of the roads.

He said, “When roads are constructed, bridges are built and sub-region, villages, towns and cities and duly connected and people are given needed amenities. They will not only be comfortable, because business transaction and mobility of people and produces will be easier and cheap.

“Now, the number of out of school children will reduce significantly, and the future of the State can be protected from hooliganism, crime of various ranges and our people will be safe.”

The other areas which have been prioritised in the 2020 budget proposal are Healthcare at 5.18% and Agriculture at 4.43% of the total budget proposal.

The N208,802,972,878 billion total budget proposal has N100,142,690,046 earmarked for capital expenditure and representing 47.9 per cent of the total budget estimate.

This has an increase of 20 per cent when compared to the 2019 budget.

Describing it as a realistic budget for the masses, the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin said that the house will ensure the budget is approved and hit the ground running by January 2020.
